Top 5 RV Product Purchases

When you finally take the plunge and buy your first camper, the first thing you want to do is buy stuff for it, am I right?! I’m over here buying pillows and rugs…you know, the “cute” stuff that makes your camper look homier! My husband on the other hand is a more “practical” buyer! Over the years, we have purchased several items for our RV. These products have either improved our RV’s stabilization, comfort, or convenience. Here is a list of our top 5 RV product purchases we have made for our camper!

Soft Start RV

We recently installed a SoftStartRV, a device you hardwire to your AC unit. We frequently had issues tripping our breakers while simultaneously using the AC and microwave and/or any additional electrical output. The SoftStart solves this problem by decreasing the initial load by up to 70%. It also allows for a smaller, quieter, and usually cheaper generator. If your camper has two AC units, installing one SoftStart per AC would be hugely beneficial. This would potentially allow for you to run both ACs off a 30 amp hook up, which are more readily available at campgrounds.  The install is a very doable DIY that took less than an hour with simple tools (drill, crimper, wire cutters). RVLock Keyless Entry Keypad

Switch out your door handle for the RVLock keyless entry keypad. If you’re anything like me, I hate messing with keys! This keypad allows for you to easily lock or unlock with just the click of a few buttons. It comes with two keys, and a key fob for those rainy days when you are in need of a quick entry! A very convenient way to secure your RV and all of your valuables.

Stabilizing Equipment

Do you want your camper to feel like a boat on the ocean?! Add energetic kids to the mix and that creates an even rockier situation! Having good stabilization equipment is essential for an enjoyable camping experience. It’s hard for us to pick just one, so here are our top 4 stabilization products we use and trust:

Battery Jumper

Nothing is worse than getting to your campsite and running into issues…we have been there! After parking and leveling our camper, our slide out would not properly, hmm slide out?! We were able to jump our battery to get the slide to work (a temporary fix). Since this incident, we did purchase a new battery for our RV, but glad we had the STANELY FATMAN power station jump starter. This power station has come in handy on multiple occasions including inflating bike/car/stroller tires and jumping the battery of our RV. You can also charge devices via the four USB charging ports. You NEED one of these!!

Digital Thermostat

RVs are typically equipped with your standard “scroll wheel” analog thermostat. The RVComfort Coleman Thermostat easily replaced the original and works so much better! I love the convenience of being able to set your temperature to the exact degree of your choosing. There were cheaper options, but this thermostat was an exact wire for wire easy swap.

Through the years, we have bought several items for our RV, but these RV product purchases are our favorites! For a complete list, check our product recommendations page! We hope these items make your camping experiences more enjoyable. Please feel free to contact us with any comments or questions! Happy camping!!
