RV Slide Maintenance

You might see a common theme in some of these blogs….maintenance. Preserving to extend the life of our campers is very important. After all, we spend enough money on these trailers, we might as well do some frequent RV Maintenance. Keeping our campers in good condition should most definitely include preventive RV Slide Maintenance.

Every few camping trips I like to apply both slide out silicone lube and rubber seal conditioner as my RV Slide Maintenance.

Slide-Out Silicone Lube

  • Helps RV slide outs run smoothly without sticking
  • Reduces friction and wear by adding a protective film
  • Lubricates and waterproofs
  • Anti-corrosion
  • Extends slide out life

RV care Rubber Seal Conditioner

  • Helps prevent cracking and fading
  • Reduces friction and wear
  • Extends slide out life
  • Can be used on slide out, as well as windows, doors, and compartments that also contain a rubber seal
  • Water resistant

Application Tips

Before you add either product, make sure to wipe down (with a towel) the top, sides and slide rails to eliminate excessive dirt. Once the slide is clean, I simply spray the conditioner on the rubber seals (around the slide and door), let it soak for a few minutes, then wipe it off. This helps prevent the rubber from drying out and cracking. I then spray on the silicone lubricant on the metal slides top and bottom, run them in and out a couple times, and wipe off the excess. This allows less friction and therefore less wear to allow for a longer lasting system.

Lastly, before bringing the slide in at the end of every outing, I wipe off the slide roof and sides. This prevents dirt/water from coming into the camper, plus helps keep the slide tracks clean and clear of debris.

These tasks are very easy, with each only taking a few minutes, and is crucial for RV Slide maintenance. For more product recommendations, click here. Please contact us with any questions or comments.
