Watkins Glen Gorge Trail

If you find yourself visiting the Finger Lakes of NY, stopping at Watkins Glen State Park is a MUST! My husband and I recently traveled here with our two young boys, and hiking the Watkins Glen Gorge Trail was a highlight of the trip.

Watkins Glen State Park is the most popular of the Finger Lakes State Parks. Located in Watkins Glen, NY, the Gorge Trail features 19 waterfalls along the 2.6 mile loop. The trail is considered moderate, and is definitely doable with kids! We both wore our kiddos (me using my LILLEbaby, my husband his ClevrPlus carrier), which I would recommend. We did see some kids walking, but it does get slippery, so use caution. The loop includes the Indian Trail, Finger Lakes Trail, and Gorge Trail winding you past Glen Creek and through Cavern Cascade.

Keep in mind, this trail is heavily trafficked, so start early if you can! It is also good to note that the Gorge Trail is subject to seasonal closure due to weather conditions. Check the Watkins Glen State Park website for updates and closures.

This place is absolutely stunning (if you couldn’t tell by the overload of pictures)! I truly hope you get to experience the Watkins Glen Gorge Trail for yourself! Please let us know if you have any questions or comments. Happy hiking!!
